There is something so attractive about independence, especially for a young adult.
Independence brings about a sense of control, something that younger children who are under the supervision of their parents lack to see, but with age comes more opportunities, more responsibilities and most importantly, more independence.
As a college student, the most beautiful part of said independence is the control and dependability that I have to myself. It is the ability for me to care for me. This is something that a lot of young adults miss, especially young women.
There is a common stereotype that a woman cannot take care of herself and that a man is the only one who can do it for her.
She is to depend on others and never stand alone for she is not strong enough to do so.
But what if we were to defy this.
What if we to break down this ugly stereotype and demonstrate that women do not need to depend on a man.
She can be independent and find dependability within herself.
So, let’s step away from this stereotype of finding others to care for you and take back control.
Let’s dig deep into our studies and take control of our futures.
Let’s focus less on finding Mr. Right and know that Miss Independent is staring right back at you in the mirror and she is an unstoppable force that can work hard and benefit from the fruits of her labor.
Keep going for the gold ladies, you got this! And don’t forget to…
